Free Download: Transforming Into The New You - The 9 Enneagram Types At Their Best

Transforming into the people God intricately created us to be is what the Enneagram is all about. This tool gives us a roadmap to a life of purpose and fulfillment, but once we start to reap the fruit of transformation in our own lives, the next step is to cheer on the people closest to us.

Once you check out your own Type’s behaviors when you’re walking in hope and freedom in Christ, check out what you should be looking for and affirming the people you’re closest to. Knowing these behaviors will help you better love, encourage, and support your significant other, family members, and friends, spurring them on and inspiring them to be the best version of themselves. 

Proverbs 27:17 says, “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” I pray you use these Enneagram insights to propel yourself and the people you love most toward abundant life in Christ!  

The Hard Work of Transformation 

I know firsthand that growth is not easy. In fact, it can be incredibly hard. Many times it feels like we’re taking two steps forward, and one step back! Just when we think we’ve overcome a negative pattern, a sin tendency, or a weakness, it comes creeping back into our lives. Lasting change requires us to surrender to the Holy Spirit, depend on Him, and walk in accordance to His calling for us. But when we let go of our control and He takes over, our thirst will be quenched, and His blessings will flow into every area of our lives. 

In my experience, as Gospel transformation takes place, the ripple effects not only have a positive impact in your own life, but also on all those you encounter. It’s like when you throw a rock into a pond and you can see the circles starting small and getting larger as they go farther and farther out. 

As I began to transform and become more aligned with the Gospel (and make no mistake, I’m still in progress!), the changes I was making helped transform my marriage and other relationships with people around me. As my husband, Jeff, began to transform and become more aligned with the Gospel, the same thing happened to him. The process started with small ripples, and then spread out in increasing circles, first to each other, but then to others.  

Those increasing circles meant more and more friends, acquaintances, and even strangers were experiencing the transformation that comes from the Gospel through the tool of the Enneagram. 20 years ago, I never would have dreamed that God would use me and my journey of personal and relational transformation to encourage others. I can’t wait to look down the road a year from now, five years from now, or even a decade from now, and see the ripple effects that your transformation has created for hope, wholeness, and freedom for yourself and for others. 

Gospel Hope 

I get truly inspired and excited thinking about YOU, and all the ways that God is going to use the tool of the Enneagram to give you new understanding of yourself and others. I pray He begins to whisper in your heart, setting you free and leading you to experience true hope, peace, and rest.  

My greatest desire for you is that first, you will know, believe, and trust in your identity in Christ. In Him, you are completely forgiven and set free, and you have his complete righteousness on you and in you. When God looks at you, he is satisfied by Christ’s finished work. And because of Christ’s finished work on your behalf, he looks at you and sees his most cherished and beloved child. This knowledge and unconditional love will radically change everything in you— it is the ultimate transformation from death to life. To God be the glory!  

Second, I hope you find your Enneagram Type, you’ll recognize how a personality apart from Christ is running away from its Core Fear, running toward its Core Desire, stumbling over its Core Weakness, and desperate to hear its Core Longing. As you become aware of these traits, you can make them the “rumble strip” alarms to make you aware of what’s going on in your heart. You can ask the Holy Spirit to help you navigate your internal world. These “rumble strips” will refocus you toward being aligned with the Gospel, traveling the best path for your heart and personality Type.  

Third, that God will reveal to you, both in knowledge and in experience, the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. As you become fully aligned with the Gospel, you can move toward growth, using the tool of the Enneagram to bring out the very best in you, the way God designed you to be. When you are in this place of being fully aligned with Christ, others will be blessed, God will be glorified, and you will experience the closeness of a Savior who will always meet your every longing and need.
